Have you ever gone to a new place or tried a new experience and thought to yourself, “I’m never doing that again!” Tell us about it.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us NEVER
Where: Paralympics Opening Ceremony
I don’t know if this image counts as cheating or the premise is to positive but it is a newspaper snap of the segment I was in for the Paralympics Opening Ceremony.
The premise was based on The Tempest by Shakespeare, where Miranda is encouraged by Prospero (Ian McKellen) drifts through space and time I was a ‘SEAGULL’ in the Navigation sequence – we actually carried large books on retractable poles and mimicked the movements of seagulls flying around the large umbrella/boat (see pic). Our costumes had words taken from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
I received a cheery wave from Sir Ian McKellen and Stephen Hawking delighted us with a reading on Science and Reason. To be honest for this to have happened once was a dream – but to have the chance to do the Paralympics too , you’d be right to think this experience may not apply to Never Again, but I honestly don’t think I will to top this. Not likely in my lifetime, in London, anyway.
