Draft a post with three parts, each unrelated to the another, but create a common thread between them by including the same item — an object, a symbol, a place — in each part.
Photographers, show us SHARING.
WHAT: Tandem bike
WHEN: May 2013
I chose to do the photography task – partly because I’m lazy and partly because I wanted to show this perfect image of sharing, in my opinion.
This was taken on the little island of Brännö, off Gothenburg, Sweden. The islanders don’t use cars really, they use bikes. As soon as we got off boarded the island, all the locals picked up bikes from the most impressive sidewalk of bikes I’ve ever seen. Literally covered in bikes. So we figured the best way to get around and see as much as possible in the little time we had in the day, was to bike it.
I’m 5’3″ and my friend Zoië is 5’2″ so you can imagine, manoeuvring a tandem bike between us was NOT the greatest idea. It didn’t work and soon enough I had swapped tasks with my 5’11” foot friend Onomè and soon we were off. I can honestly say, coming from London, it’s not easy finding near to bike only havens – but Brännö has got to be one of those places. The hilly yet smooth pathways were so much hard work and equally as much fun to ride through. Going downhill we spent a good 20 minutes riding up and down a hill just because we got the most amazing kick out of it.
Going up hill, for these two especially, was hard. Hearing my friends verbally beat each-other with demands to reach the top of a particularly steep road and pedal in unison, was one of the most hilarious and heartwarming things that I have witnessed.
