Rainy Milo has one of those appeals. Equipped with an already brilliant name, she’s got that cool, youthful (she’s 17) free spirited vibe to both envy and love.
A cross between Neneh Cherry circa ’88 to’90 and Zoe Kravitz – Rainy oozes personal style and confidence. Her voice is smooth, her lyrics are mature and suggestive, her songs have a directness of approach about love, longing and consequences of the young and restless. What I love is her accent. She sings with her London accent and it sounds so good:

There is some serious musical talent coming out from the UK at the moment. I’m talking about the underground wave that manage to go unnoticed whilst the Adele’s and Ed Sheeran’s and
1directon get all the attention. Jessie Ware, SBTRKT, The 1975, Laura Mvula and Josephine are some of my faves. Well deserved recognition and success befits them all because their music is so good and Rainy Milo is definitely up there.
Her EP Limey can be found on Soundcloud where you can listen to her honest conversational songs like Bout You, Don’t Regret Me, The Other Way and the wonderfully re-versioned Come and See Me (borrowing from the Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel Make Me Smile tune). Accompany that by checking out her eclectic Tumblr, a mixture of her soul, hip hop, high fashion and london street influences. It’s a positive, engaging feast for the eyes, seriously I spent ages trawling through it. Her music videos so far, barring Bout You are just cut and paste stills of Milo herself watering plants or posing at the top of a stairs; it’s all very cool, mesmerising and glaringly simple.
