the PEEP SHOW weekend: Night Paintings by PAUL BENNEY

Night Paintings by Paul Benney | 4th October – 9th December 2012

There are so many free exhibitions going down during the A/W months in London. Somerset House is housing many small ones. Former Somerset house artist in residence Paul Benny‘s showcase is creepy – perfect for the dark, grim weather – especially in the run up to Halloween and Guy Fawkes night. It’s displayed in the

[A]tmospheric light wells and dead-house underneath The Edmond J.Safra Fountain Court for the first exhibition of hits kind in this unique space.

I wasn’t enamoured with the artwork, and I don’t think I was even allowed to photograph most of it; but to be honest I was taken with the setting down below.

If you get a chance to experience the overall uncomfortable surroundings of an old London crypt, with the bonus of seeing some seriously spooky and dark artwork then head on down.
